Village Studio is a startup founded in 2022 by three game industry veterans (from, among others, Sega, Electronic Arts and Rovio) whose main product is Playken: a platform that allows players to take their data with them from game to game. The original idea behind Playken was to enable the creation of avatars that could be transfered from one game to another. The concept evolved and changed over time and Playken is now a brandable currency that players can use in a variety of games.
The idea behind the logo was to create a playful and positive look that would inspire both players and game developers. We boiled down this brief to an extremely simplified, happy face: two eyes and a smiling mouth. The colourful logo also illustrates interaction: the two circles can also be interpreted as two players, connected by a platform.
In accordance with Riesen Design's "Swiss Army knife philosophy", we were able to produce a wide variety of materials for Village Studio: a whole new brand, colourful 3D icons, photo and video ads, presentations, etc. In addition, we also are constantly developing new Figma prototypes that allow the client to test new ideas and approaches in order to make Playken a more user-friendly and relevant platform for both players and developers.
